Sexual Violence Prevention

Sexual Violence Prevention Initiatives

The Sexual Violence Prevention and Education team offers a variety of innovative initiatives and best practices to educate and build awareness around complex issues of sexual harassment, including sexual assault, dating or domestic violence, gender-based harassment or bullying, and stalking. Our goals are to:

  • develop education and prevention strategies to broaden the awareness of rape culture, and to decrease the incidence of sexual harassment, including sexual assault, dating or domestic violence, gender-based harassment or bullying, and stalking on the UO campus.
  • create a safer campus through participation in policy development, advocacy, and lobbying efforts.
  • serve as a referral source to campus and community services for survivors and concerned others.
  • encourage active involvement in prevention efforts by students, faculty, staff, and community members.
  • provide a networking system for alliance members to work effectively with each other on campus, and to coordinate efforts with other colleges and universities.

Sexual Violence Education and Trainings

Sexual violence can be a difficult issue to discuss, but it is an issue that college campuses are facing across the nation. We have resources available to help you understand your responsibility as a member of our community to treat others with respect and have healthy relationships. These can be hard topics, but they are necessary if we are to build a community where all are welcome and can safely pursue their education.

Sexual Assault Awareness

We host multiple campaigns throughout the year to raise awareness about sexual harassment, including sexual assault, dating or domestic violence, gender-based harassment or bullying, and stalking. Our goal is to create space for healthy conversations and to stir up a desire for you to be a part of social change. We are a community of Ducks—a community that takes action when we see injustice. Our awareness campaigns bring the injustice of sexual assault to light and provide opportunities for us to work together to create a safe and respectful campus.
